Movie Night: Julie & Julia, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian

16 December 2009 6 Comments Disclosure

It’s movie time! My favorite time of the week. Sitting back, relaxing, and watching a really good movie…ah, it’s simply heaven to me.

The first movie we are looking at today is Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (Single-Disc Edition). I received an advanced copy of this DVD, after checking it out I really want to see the first Night at the Museum now. I never got the chance to watch the first one but after watching Battle of the Smithsonian, I think the first one would be enjoyable to watch. I love Ben Stiller, Amy Adams, and of course Robin Williams all of which have great roles in this film. My youngest kidlet loved when the Dinosaur fossil came to life and my oldest was thrilled with the action scenes. I was surprised to see so many great actors collaborating one film. Its enjoyable to guess who was playing what role. My kidlets and I both enjoyed watching this movie. It was a great movie for our family movie nights. Visit http://www.nightatthemuseumcomestolife.com/us/ for more information.

Our next movie is a movie for all of us bloggers at heart. I was sent a copy of Julie & Julia just the other day to review. Last night, I watched in the comfort of my own home and oh my goodness I fell in love not only with Julia Child but also Julie Powell. I don’t want to give away the film, but basically its about a girl who decides to cook through one of Julia Child’s cookbooks and blog about it. Hello! That is right up my alley, right? Blogging? Seriously? You had me at ‘BL’ ^_^. It is so fun to watch her as she tries to meet her goal, see her readership grow, and get the phone call she had been waiting for. This film has inspired me as a blogger in so many ways that I can’t even think about writing them down at this moment. I just loved this movie so much because it combined two of my main passions in life… cooking and blogging.
If you love this movie as much as I did, check them out on Facebook and their official site.

What good movies have you seen lately?

Let us know in the comments!

Disclosure: An advanced copy of Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian was given to me by Click Communications and Julie & Julia was provided by Mammoth for blog mention purposes. This post is my own personal opinion on these two films.

Gotta love movie night! I adored Meryl Streep as Julia and thought her chemistry with Stanley Tucci was magic but I just couldn’t stand Julie! I thought she was so selfish and self-important. I’ve read more about her since the movie came out and she just doesn’t seem like a very nice person. I’m glad we didn’t let it ruin the movie – it still got two thumbs up from me and the hubby and yes, we did make the beef bourguignon recipe and it really is THAT good lol

We recently rented the Proposal and loved it. Not sure what’s out at the moment but you’ve inspired me to go and look tonight ;) I love the Redbox a mile from my house!

@mcmammajama, I did some “googling” on her as well and many people have said the same thing that you have about Julie Powell. I would love to try the beef bourguignon recipe it looks like heaven!
I too saw the Proposal and loved it as well. Sandra Bullock rocks! I’m not too sure what was released this week either but we make a trip to our local Redbox at least once a week it seems. I love those things. $1 a movie (and a new release at that), really who can beat that?

I have been dying to see this. It’s number one on our Netflix queue right now! :) I love watching the Food Network my husband (http://www.twitter.com/andrewjg) could tell you. It annoys him how much I watch. I get so many ideas by watching other people cook. Most of the time they make things I won’t eat, like seafood, and meats like lamb, goat milk cheeses etc, but some of the techniques can be carried throughout other dishes.

Well, I am glad to know that other friends enjoyed the movie! :)

@Jacklyn, I completely agree, I like the idea of carrying over techniques to other aspects of the kitchen. I just watched the movie for a second time last night. Love it I’m thinking of reading the actual book Julie & Julia now.
