Eating out: a birthday tradition

14 December 2009 No Comment Disclosure

The JuiceBox widget at the top of my sidebar (yes, that green box over there) is begging me to go out to dinner (and the deals from Restaurant.com, who is sponsoring this post, are tempting as well). During the holidays, we don’t get out anywhere near enough, but here’s what we do love to do…

Bean helping Brother blow out his birthday candles

We don’t get to eat out as often as we like typically due to a restrictive budget. Most of the time we leave our eating out treats to special days like birthdays or sometimes holidays (i.e. Mother’s Day, etc.). Whenever it is someone’s special day in our family, we let the honored guest pick the place that we get to go. This makes for an even more memorable experience for the person who we are honoring that day. For example, this week we are celebrating my oldest sons birthday, so he got to pick what place we get to go to. My son has been talking non stop about where we are going to go for his birthday. He is so excited and so are we!

Just like the kids get excited about picking what place they want to eat, I am no exception. When my birthday rolls around in the summer months, I’m shouting from the rooftops that I want to go to some place that serves crablegs. Because as silly as it may sound it is one of my birthday traditions to eat someplace that has crablegs ^_^. What is your birthday tradition? What are your favorite foods to indulge in?

How often do you go out to eat?

Do you go out to eat whenever the mood strikes or do you go on “rainy days”, holidays, etc.?
