I heart thee, Nintendo Wii
I recently bought the family a Nintendo Wii. My family and I have wanted a Wii for a very long time now. We are talking years! Since the first time I saw a Wii I knew I wanted one. They just seemed so “cool”.
I’m not a huge gamer. I’m too busy to be dedicating huge chunks of time to a video game. I like it simple. I like to turn it on, game a bit, and get off. Same with the kidlets, I don’t like them spending all day playing a video game especially if they aren’t learning anything from it. This is why we think the Nintendo Wii is great for us. And honestly it has proven to be true. We now have Wii family game nights where everyone takes turns playing games together. I say take turns because we only have 2 Wii remotes and those things can be pretty expensive by themselves but one of these days we will have all 4 so more can play at a time.
What I like the most about the Wii is that it encourages you to get up off the couch and do something together. It definitely is a family game system, something that you play with someone else. It’s much more fun that way. The game that the actual Wii Console comes with, Wii Sports, is perhaps my oldest sons favorite game out of the ones that we currently own.
I can’t really explain how much fun it is to play a Wii, basically its just one of those things that someone has to experience for themselves. It’s definitely a different kind of experience something that is foreign from the days of Super Nintendo and Gameboy.
Was the investment in a Wii worth it? I think so because I see it as something my family and I are doing together but there are times where I may be seen playing the Wii more than the children ^_^. I also waited long enough to purchase it to when the price dropped down a bit.
What else do you need when you buy a Wii? For one player the Wii console comes with everything one needs like a single Wii remote and nunchuk and a game. Of course additional games are sold separate. I have found that in the short time of being a Wii owner that batteries are a thing that one definitely needs in order to keep the Wii working. The Wii remotes run on batteries and so does the Wii balance board if one has one of those. What I found to be easiest and a cheaper alternative is just to use regular rechargeable batteries. One may have seen all of the advertised Wii remote charger systems. After reading several reviews online I opted not to go with this option. So I went with simple rechargeable batteries and wall charger. When a set of batteries go out, I simply charge them. I have enough rechargeable batteries so that a set is always in the wall charger to be switched out with exhausted batteries so we don’t have to wait if batteries go dead in mid-play.
We love our Wii. Will I still be crazy in love with the Wii several years from now, who knows. But for right now, I am very much infatuated with my Nintendo Wii.
