I wish I had gone to Walmart for our Holiday dinner. We couldn’t afford a Thanksgiving dinner this year, so we had to go to a family members house. It was hard for my mom since she has ALWAYS done thanksgiving dinner for over 20 years. I never thought of Walmart being a great place to shop for good price Thanksgiving trimmings. :)

I agree about coupons. Clipping coupons is one of my favorite things to do and does help greatly and significantly reduce the prices of groceries. Also looking online at various coupons sites, manufacturers sites, etc… can help as well!

Not only does clipping coupons and shopping for sales help, but inviting additional guests and creating a pot-luck helps lighten the load. I find myself much less frenzied when I’m able to designate dishes for others to bring and I only have to make the turkey and mashed potatoes.

Instead of spending the entire day Christmas in the kitchen, I start cooking 2 days before! Green beans and other items that can be reheated in a short amount of time. I try to stock up well before the holidays on anything non-perishable. I watch for sales and of course use coupons, so that by the time Nov/Dec roll around I am already stocked up on my of my holiday supplies! .-= Ashley B.´s last blog ..must push through =-.

First, I try to match my coupons to sale items. Secondly, I stick to the list! Third, I buy in bulk when things go on sale so that I only have to restock certain foods every 3-4 months. As items went on sale before Thanksgiving we stocked up so that come Christmas we won’t need anymore major food items.

I save money on Holiday meals by always buying store brand when I can. Whether on veggies, stuffing, canned soups for different things, bread, you name it, it takes the same and it’s so much cheaper.

No matter how much money you have, doing a potluck dinner with family really works. The person having the dinner usealy has the meat and everyone else has a specific item they have to bring. This only works if you have a reliable family though lol :)
