Fancast gives Hulu a Run in Online Video Streaming

24 October 2009 9 Comments Disclosure

FancastI’ve mentioned in the past and professed my love for a little website called Hulu. In fact, I mentioned that Hulu is a way for me to get caught on TV since I never have time to watch shows when they actually air. Well there just might be someone out there giving Hulu a “run for the money” in terms of online video streaming.

The best part of websites like this is that they are free, and free is good. Fancast is the newest online video streamer on the ‘net right now and they are slowly winning over my Hulu filled heart. After stumbling around the website for a bit I found that Fancast had full episodes of shows that Hulu wasn’t offering yet, this is great for me because I’ve been dying to see what the hype is all about on shows like The Vampire Diaries on the CW.

I’m not a clips kind of a girl, if I’m looking to watch something I’m wanting to watch the full episode or the full movie not 1 minute clips. I like that Fancast has a pretty decent selection of full episodes just like Hulu. What I also find to be a bonus on Fancast’s side is that they offer the top gossip news on their homepage. A one stop destination for entertainment? Could be.

Do you know how long it has been since I’ve seen an episode of the Jetsons? So happy Fancasts has full episodes!

So whether you are looking to find something to entertain the kidlets (like the Jetsons, see above) or just getting caught up on some of your favorite television shows, Fancast (and Hulu) are both really great options. Visit fancast.com for more information.

Just like the pp we too have gotten rid of cable and don’t have a converter. We have our TV’s hooked up to our old computer and stream everything we want to watch on the TV.

Thanks for the info on fancast. I have visited them but not investigated them completely. I was excited to see they had food network stuff when I visited before, but now I have to go back since they have more kid stuff. That is one thing I would like to find more of!

@Drea, we use Hulu a lot here as well and I was excited for a representative for Fancast to tell me about the new website. Another place to watch Free videos? I couldn’t resist.

@Pepper, sometimes I wonder why we have cable ourselves but then realize that unless I go out and purchase the cord necessary to project the computer onto a television monitor that I don’t think I could completely cut myself off. I do have a ritual at night though of taking my mini-laptop to bed with me to watch some missed episodes of my favorite tv shows online. Maybe I’ll follow you lovely ladies’ examples by making the switch completely one of these days.

Like you, I too am on the lookout for streaming kids shows as well. This would be a big help to find good quality kids programming online, on demand. I was lucky to find the Jetsons on Fancast, I’m hoping to introduce the show to my kidlets. I loved the show as a child it would be neat if they followed Moms footsteps.

Hi Heather, thanks for the nice shout out to Fancast. I see some of your readers were especially interested in the kids offerings, so just a note, Fancast also has the Peanuts network. In addition to It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (they don’t make them like that any more, do they?) there’s Charlie Brown’s Allstars; Peanuts Motions Comics; Someday You’ll Find her, Charlie Brown; The Charlie Brown & Snoopy Show (2000-2004); and What a Nightmare, Charlie Brown.

I remember when Great Pumpkin was a special TV event – CBS would air it around this time of year and EVERYONE would watch it, so if you have a little one, it might be fun to introduce them to this classic.

    Cheers,

    Jim (for Fancast)

I’ve had several ppl approach me and tell me in the last few days that Hulu is rumored to start charging people for access to their website? Has anyone else heard this? It would be very sad if they did try and charge people in the new year after being free for so long. In my opinion if Hulu does start charging then videos should be commercial free.

What are your thoughts on the rumor?
