Walmart recently approached the ElevenMoms to see how we could transform our outdoor space into a livable space. Many times when we are decorating our homes we often times neglect the outdoor area. For someone that is often outdoors with the kids, etc. a comfortable, usable space is key not only to entertain with but to also enjoy at one’s leisure.
When I heard that Walmart wanted to sponsor our Outdoor transformation of course I couldn’t help but JUMP at the chance. I’ve been wanting to revamp my deck area for a long time now, so now was the perfect time to do it.
First off since I already had a patio table set, that I bought from Walmart last year, I didn’t need a new “eating area” but did in fact need some seating of some sort to fill up the empty space. I knew exactly what I wanted. So with a wrap-around sofa in mind I jumped on walmart.com to see what I could find. I immediately fell in love with the Braddock Heights 7-Piece Woven Patio Sectional Set not only because it was exactly what I was looking for but also because of the price! This is a 7 piece set. It seat a lot of people which is great for when I’m entertaining. When it was purchased it was on rollback and now they have rolled back the price even more, how great is that!
Next, I knew I wanted a fire something or other. I like the idea of relaxing by the fire in the winter time but since I am on a deck couldn’t have a fire pit per say nor did I want something that would require me to stay outside until the flames died down. I found this Better Homes & GardensĀ® Tile Mantle Square Table Top Fire Bowl to be exactly the thing that I needed and at a really great price too, just under $50! The Firebowl is great because I can turn it on when I go outside to enjoy our outdoor living space and when I’m done can quickly turn it off.
There were a couple things that we desperately needed. One of those was a new umbrella since my old one “took flight” one windy day a while back. The Mainstays Sand Dune Brown Market Umbrella 6.5′ fit perfectly in our budget at only $25. The second thing that we desperately needed was some sort of light to not only illuminate the deck area so we could enjoy it late at night but also something that would shine a light on the stairwell to the backyard so I don’t trip and fall when trying to take our dog out for “potty breaks”. The Westinghouse 2-Spot Solar Floodlights were the perfect thing because not only does it give us the right amount of light but also because it is solar powered. My husband and I didn’t want to do any electrical installs of any kind in order to get the light that we needed so the solar floodlight is great in that aspect as well as the fact that it doesn’t cost a cent to operate. Huge plus for this “green” deck feature.
I ordered all of these products using Walmart’s Site to Store which means that they were shipped to my local store and didn’t cost anything to ship it. Using Site to Store was easy. When products are available for pick up they notify you by email and you go to your local store with the email printed out and pick up your items. I had a few items take longer than expected to be delivered to my local store due to transit issues but eventually all of the items arrived as promised. Have you ever used Site to Store? What are your thoughts on Walmart’s Site to Store feature?
Now that I have a completed outdoor living space on our deck, I’ve started to revamp other areas in our backyard (to which I will eventually show you in future blog posts I’m sure) like creating several food gardens, starting a compost, etc.
Have you ever thought about bringing the indoors out? What would you like to do to your outdoor living space?
