Get Thrifty! Finds of the Week

1 March 2009 8 Comments Disclosure

Yesterday I mentioned visiting your local thrift store to see if you can make an outfit out of what you find. Well today I want to share with you an outfit that I recently made from finds that I got at my local thrift store.

Get Thrifty Finds of the Week

In the photo above you will find two great pieces that I got while thrifting. Both the yellow heels and the green sweater were at my thrift store brand-new with the tags still on them. These items came from Target originally. Want to know how much I paid? Only $8!!! $3.50 for the sweater and $4.50 for the shoes. Talk about a deal. I like to pair these two items with a simple white t-shirt and a pair of jeans, that many of us already have in our closets.

So I encourage you to find time to “Get Thrifty!” this week. You’ll never know what you could find if you don’t go. Have Fun!

      Cute outfit!

I am blessed to live in a great area with several quality thrift stores. I buy the majority of my 3 kids clothes (minus school uniforms) at them, including new name brand jeans. My daughter often receives compliments on her “sense of style.” If they only knew it comes from thrift stores, I wonder what they would think! Thrifting is exhilarating as you search the racks for good pieces and spend so little. My kids love to go with me because I rarely say “no” due to the price-tag! And I am teaching them a valuable life lesson – prudent spending.

My favorite was finding 2 pair of gently used Salvatore Ferragamo’s (regularly $300/pair) for $3/pair at my local Goodwill. I wore those shoes all the time. I moved and my local Goodwill does not have such finds, but I have bought some great name brand clothes there for a fraction of their original cost. And just a few weeks ago my husband found a veggie slicer attachment for my KitchenAide mixer for $3.99. It originally sold for $25 in the early 80’s (the original sales slip was in the box) and sells for over $40 today. It looks as if it was never used.
